Temple of the Tooth (Sri Dalada Maligawa):
Sri Dalada Maligawa or the chapel of the divine Tooth Relic is a Buddhist temple in the city of Kandy, Sri Lanka. The National Museum of Kandy:
It is located next to the Temple of the Tooth in part of the former Royal Palace of Kandy. The Palle Vahala was constructed during the Sri Vickrama Rajasingha era and was used as the quarters of the queens of King of Kandy. This building has been built according to the architectural features of Kandy period. The museum was opened to the public in 1942. The museum has over 5,000 artifacts on display consist of weapons, jewelry, and artifacts from the Kandian era and post British Colonial era.

Lankatilaka Vihara:
It is an ancient Buddhist temple situated in Udunuwara of Kandy. It is located on Daulagala road approximately 4 km away from Pilimatalawa junction and a few kilometers from the ancient Buddhist temple, Gadaladeniya Vihara. It is studied as the improved elegant architectural edifice created all along the Gampola era. The vihara buildings have been built on a natural rock called Panhalgala Rock.Among the buildings, the image house possesses characteristically outstanding architectural features, embellished with traditional Sinhalese sculptures.

Gangaramaya (Vihara) Buddhist Temple :

This was once a swamp adjoining Beira lake which is a Landmark in the capital city. The swamp today has become a vibrant complex consisiting of the Gangaramaya temple, The Seema Malaka(An assembly hall for the monks). The temple has stood through the trials of time for over 120years. It was established by one of the most famous scholar monks, Venerable Hikkadue Sri Sumanagala Nayaka Thera, founder of the Vidyodaya Pirivena. Devundera Sri Jinaratana Nayake Thera, his chief pupil was appointed by him to administer the temple. He laid the foundation to convert the small temple to what it is today – an institution of international reckoning. He made Buddhist texts available to the masses, collected Buddhist artifacts. Now it also has different facilities for the devotees to worship in this place.

Mount Lavina Beach :

This is a very famous spot for tourism and nightlife. The name of the city was built up around the original residence of Sir Thomas Maitland, Governor General of Ceylon from 1805-1811. The local name for the town today is ‘Galkissa’, Kissa menaing rock in sinhalese. The story behind this name goes as a large treasure form a shipwreck being hidden among the rocks here. Mount lavina is a bustling city now, full of life and well known for the beach activities held there. The nightlife and amazing dining locations on the beach make it one of the most famous beaches in Colombo.

Viharamahadevi Park :
Is a public park situated in Colombo. It stands beside the National Museum of Sri Lanka.It’s the oldest and largest park of Colombo. Viharamahadevi Park faces the Town-Hall building.The building was erected suring the Colonial era. This park was named after Queen Viharamahadevi, mother of King Dutugamunu. It was built by and donated to the Colombo city during the Brittish rule over Sri Lanka.It was called ‘Victoria Park’ after Queen Victoria, during the british rule.The park is famous for its huge Buddha statue and series of water fountains.

The Galle Face :
This is an ocean-side urban park, sprawling across five hectares of land. It is half kilometre long along the coast, situated right at the heart of the financial business district of Colombo. It was initially used for horse racing and as a golf course. Later on it was also used for cricket, tennis,polo, rugby and football.Children love this place. It’s a great place for vendors, teenagers, lovers, Kite Flyers and all kinds of people.

Beira Lake :
This is a lake in the centre of Colombo city. It is surrounded by large businesses and occupies close to 165 hectares of land. During the colonistaion by the Portuguese. The lake was used to transport goods within the city.The lake still holds its Potuguese name till date.There are two distinct water bpdies in the lake. The smaller lake rimming Navam Mawatha and the Larger one rimming D.R.Wijewardena Mawatha. Independence Memorial Hall:
A national monument of Sri Lanka which was constructed for the celebration of the Independence of the country from the British Rule , This is when the full govering responsibility was restored to the Ceylonese-elected Legislature on February 4, 1948. You can find this monument in the Independence square( previously known as Torrington Square) in the Cinnamon Gardens of Colombo.It also hosts the Independence Memorial Museum.At the head of the monument is the statue of Rt.Honorable Don Stephen Senanayake “ The Father of the Nation”, who is the country’s first prime minister.

St. Anthony’s Church Kochikade:
This church has deep history. Back in the times of the 18th century, Catholicism was still a persecuted religion in Sri Lanka and hence priests could not exercise their ministry in public. This chapel was constructed out of mud around that time and was later on enlarged. In the year 1822 the statue of St. Anthony was bought and was placed on the altar of the church.The statue is believed to posses miraculous powers and is now placed in a bullet proof glass case to ensure that its protected and safe.The church has a beautiful marble altar at its centre which was consecrated by the Archbishop of Colombo at that time.

Sri Kailawasanathar Swami Devasthanam :

It is one of the oldest Hindu temples in Colombo, dedicated to Lord Shiva and Ganesha, and is a special attraction for Hindu travellers. It is a kovil hidden inside a bushy surrounding behind the Fort Railway Station. It was built during the Portuguese era, it was a family kovil.
